Ibanez has unveiled the TS808HWV2, an upgraded version of its TS808 Tube Screamer originally released in the late 1970s. The new version features a sleek black look and handwired construction.

“We sought to take the iconic Tube Screamer and push it further with a re-envisioning of the flagship, hand-wired model,” the brand states.

According to Ibanez, the new TS808HWV2 features a refined circuit design that maintains the original’s “transparent and mid-range-focused tone”, allowing guitarists to cut through mixes effectively, making it ideal for both lead and rhythm playing.

It continues to feature the JRC NJM4558 op-amp, which the brand describes as “essential” in achieving the Tube Screamer’s legendary sound. The new model also incorporates new high-end components, such as Japanese MOGAMI OFC cables, that are said to “further enhance the benefits of a hand-wired pedal.”

In addition, a boost has been added to the final stage of the circuit to increase the pedal’s maximum output level by +6dB. The TS808HWV2 includes familiar overdrive features such as Tone, Level, and Overdrive knobs, along with a stomp-style footswitch for easy operation.

“Its look has also been revamped, giving it a high-end appearance while retaining the traditional shape,” says Ibanez.

The TS808HWV2 will set you back $300. View a demo of the pedal below.

That said, don’t fret if the TS808HWV2 isn’t quite within your budget. The world of overdrive pedals is vast — Check out Guitar.com’s guide to the best overdrive pedals for various styles and budgets, and you might just find the perfect fit for your sound without breaking the bank.
